Noctilucent Clouds, Brodgar,Mainland, Orkney

Astromical phenomena.  These "night shining" blue - silver clouds can be seen up to six weeks after the Summer Solstice, when the sun lies between 6 and 16 degrees below the horizon.  They lie at high altitudes of around 82 km and result from water vapour condensing on meteroric volcanic debris.
